Curriculum

Residents rotate every 4 months through our primary teaching sites: St. Louis Park, Maple Grove, Burnsville, and the St. Paul Specialty Center. The residents are in Continuity Clinic all day every Friday, where they follow many of the same patients at the same site for their entire residency. Month-long specialty rotations in dermatopathology, cutaneous surgery, and contact dermatitis and patch testing are provided in both the second and third years of training. Third years additionally have a month of elective provided to explore their personal educational interests.

A faculty preceptor is always available on-site for immediate supervision of patients in clinic, and electronic resources are available at each site. Coding and billing is taught during clinic sessions and with supplemental lectures. The clinics and hospitals are integrated on the same electronic medical record across the HealthPartners system. Residents have access to clinic and hospital records from any practice site or at home.

Sample Schedule

Our residents will spend an average of 4.5 full days per week in an active learning environment with general and subspeciality clinics, dermatologic surgery and dermatopathology on a regular rotating basis.
